City of Sydney’s new wayfinding maps

Full Extent was proud to be involved in City of Sydney’s new Wayfinding Maps project, which was launched today by Lord Mayor Clover Moore.

Our role in this project was to create the stylised maps based on the original source GIS data, supplied by City Of Sydney’s GIS department. We compiled the maps using a combination of ArcGIS and Adobe Illustrator, including the MAPublisher plugin.

NSW Planning maps by Full Extent

“Minister for Planning Pru Goward and Minister for the Illawarra John Ajaka today announced the release of the Draft Illawarra Regional Growth and Infrastructure Plan. The draft plan follows extensive community consultation, and it aims to expand the region’s economy to create new jobs close to home.”

We’re pleased that one of our latest projects just went live yesterday – NSW Planning’s Illawarra micro-site contains maps built on Geo-Publisher.

Position Magazine article

We recently published an article in Position Magazine, outlining a recent project we undertook on behalf of the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage.

This project used the Full Extent map publishing framework to analyse hundreds of reports, written by OEH staff over the past 30 years. Any place-names within the reports were detected using our semantic engine, and placed on the map automatically.

Full Extent launch party

Many thanks to everyone who came along to our official launch party, plus the exhibition of cartography-themed artwork by local artist Christian Rodriguez. Special thanks go to Francisco Urbina for his awesome Full Extent cake!

Full Extent’s Tech23 presentation

Below is a video of the presentation that Full Extent gave at the Tech23 event in October, where 23 up-and-coming technology startups were invited to give an overview of their company and technology, with a strict time-limit of exactly 5 minutes. While we didn’t take home the major $40,000 prize, we did win an award on the day, which was nice recognition amongst such esteemed company.

Esri Asia Pacific User Conference

Full Extent attended the Esri Asia Pacific User Conference in Auckland, where we presented an overview of our work on semantic mapping for the NSW State Library. The presentation was well received, with lots of good questions from the audience and some ideas stimulated for other potential uses of our technology.
